Midelino cane coil basket

I stained a few Midelino cane coils with spinach (see Tutorial below) to make them green
Shape the Midelino cane coils in an oval and cut short
Tie the coils with a ripped leaf.
Cover the entire section where the coils overlap. Knot to tie the leaf. Cut the leaf at a sharp angle and weave it in on itself to secure.
Cut and tie another section of cane.
Cut and tie a third section of cane
Cover a section on the opposite side of the oval cane coils with a ripped leaf. This is purely decorative and balance out the large tie on the side where the ends meet
These three ovals will give the basket its shape. All the other sections of cane will now be woven through these.
Start to weave the cane into the side. This is in the middle of the two wrapped sections on the oval. Do the same at the opposite side
Weave in another length of cane. Again, do the same on the other side.
Spread out the cane sections to shape the basket. The top of the cane sections should now overlap.
Looking at the opposite side of the cane basket
Weave in a second section of cane.
Weave in a third section of cane
Adjust the Midelino cane to shape the basket.
To create the bottom of the basket: cut a short section of cane and tie to the basket frame.
Tie the cane to the other side.
Cut and tie a second short section to the bottom of the basket frame on both sides (just like the first short section)
Tie a third section in the middle of the previous two and secure it to the two bottom cane pieces.
The bottom of the Midelino cane basket is now done
Gather the dangling left-over cane strands to make the handle.
For a wilder handle that is a nice contrast to the woven bottom part of the basket tie the strands in the middle. You can either leave the longer sections to dangle or cut them short.
Or:
Follow each cane section as it coils over the basket and match it with its opposite. Overlap the two cane sections and tie with a ripped leaf.
Tie all the strands of cane to create a neat handle.
